Lee Group Unveils $1.8bn Industrial Park in Ogun, Targets 29 Factories, 2,500 Jobs, Abiodun to perform groundbreaking
Lee Group of Companies Ltd is developing a $1.8 billion industrial park along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State, with plans to accommodate more than 29 manufacturing factories and generate over 2,500 direct and indirect jobs.
The 450-hectare facility, known as Lee Group First Industrial Park, is located within Sagamu and Obafemi-Owode Local Government Areas of Ogun State and is expected to strengthen the state’s position as a major industrial and investment destination in Nigeria.
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, is expected to perform the groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, November 12, 2026.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, the Minister of Trade and Investment, captains of industry, members of the diplomatic community, traditional rulers and other prominent stakeholders are also expected at the event.
The industrial park is designed to accommodate manufacturing companies across several sectors, including soap and detergent production, PVC leather manufacturing, footwear, mould production, food processing, cosmetics, recycling and export-oriented businesses.
The development is projected to have a gross development value of $3 billion, reflecting its anticipated scale and economic impact.
Among the companies associated with the project is Aspira Products Stand, a subsidiary of Lee Group of Companies, which is identified as the largest detergent company by market share in West Africa.
Aspira is expected to establish its West African regional office within the industrial park, a move projected to strengthen the facility’s commercial profile and position it as a hub for manufacturing, distribution and regional business operations.
Beyond manufacturing facilities, the industrial park will feature administrative offices, residential facilities, power and utility stations, banks, shopping malls, showrooms, bonded warehouses, truck and trailer parking bays, communication facilities, conference centres and recreational amenities.
The supporting infrastructure is designed to provide an integrated industrial environment where manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, financial services and commercial activities can operate within a coordinated location.
Its strategic location along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, particularly its proximity to the Sagamu Interchange, is expected to enhance access to major markets, transportation networks and logistics services.
The location is also expected to facilitate the movement of raw materials and finished products while improving distribution and access to markets across Nigeria and the wider West African region.
The project is projected to stimulate economic activities in Sagamu, Obafemi-Owode and neighbouring communities through increased demand for transportation, freight services, vehicle maintenance, accommodation, restaurants, fuel stations and other support businesses.
With more than 29 factories planned, the industrial park is expected to generate over 2,500 direct and indirect jobs upon completion. Construction activities are also expected to create additional employment opportunities for skilled and unskilled workers, young people and women.
The concentration of manufacturing companies within the facility is expected to create business opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises involved in supplying goods and services, while promoting technology transfer, skills development and local production capacity.
The planned establishment of Aspira’s regional office is also expected to facilitate stronger commercial linkages between Nigerian manufacturers and other West African markets, particularly in manufacturing, distribution and export activities.
The project comes amid Ogun State’s expanding industrial base, driven by its proximity to Lagos, access to major transportation corridors and the presence of established manufacturing companies across various sectors.
Under Abiodun’s administration, the state has continued to pursue investments in infrastructure and other economic enablers aimed at attracting investors and expanding opportunities for businesses.
The Lee Group First Industrial Park is expected to complement these efforts by providing dedicated infrastructure for manufacturing and related commercial activities, enabling businesses to benefit from shared facilities and proximity to suppliers, distributors and service providers.
The developers have also indicated that the project will incorporate environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations, with emphasis on resource efficiency, waste reduction, recycling and engagement with host communities and other stakeholders.
These measures are intended to promote responsible industrial development and encourage sustainable production practices within the proposed industrial ecosystem.
The November 12 groundbreaking is expected to mark a significant milestone in the development of the facility, with stakeholders anticipating its potential to attract further investment, expand manufacturing activities and stimulate commercial growth along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway corridor.
When completed, the industrial park is expected to serve as a major platform for industrial expansion, employment generation and private-sector investment, further reinforcing Ogun State’s position in Nigeria’s industrial economy.
